1. The Cafe Maid
Okarun, Miko, and Muko sat at a table while Momo poured them water from a pitcher. Nearby, Sarah readied a Polaroid camera to take a picture of the trio, who had specifically purchased the premium “maid photo package” featuring Momo. They struck a pose, making a collective heart shape with their hands.
Outside the cafe, Momo walked Okarun, Miko, and Muko to the door to see them off. Annoyed, she grumbled at them to go straight home, feeling totally pranked by her best friends. Miko and Muko immediately linked arms with Okarun, forcefully dragging him away. But Okarun dug his heels in, insisting he wanted to stay with Momo.
He declared he would wait for her shift to end at 10:00 PM. Momo told him to just go home, pointing out that she still had five hours left on the clock. She firmly added that she was more than tough enough to walk home alone at night. Reluctantly, Okarun caved and left.
Momo returned to work, serving the incoming customers, including those who had bought photo packages with her. When her shift finally ended, she stepped outside, staring down the quiet, empty street. Suddenly, Okarun appeared. Walking up to her, he simply stated that a girl shouldn’t have to walk home alone late at night. Smiling, Momo and Okarun held hands and walked home together.
2. Training Results
Back at Seiko’s house, Aira lounged on the floor sipping a drink, her eyes locked on Jiji. He sat formally in seiza, intensely focusing on projecting his ki. Beside him, Manjiro strained and grunted, struggling to physically push Jiji over but completely failing to budge him.
Seiko praised Jiji, noting he was a remarkably fast learner. She then ordered Manjiro to get the thermos of hot water ready. Walking over to Jiji, she dripped a single drop of soy sauce onto his hand.
Instantly, the Evil Eye surged, trying to seize control of Jiji’s body. But Jiji fiercely locked down his own will, suppressing the possession entirely. Manjiro was deeply impressed by Jiji’s iron resolve, while Seiko proudly called him an absolute genius.
Even so, Seiko sternly warned him not to let his guard down. She explained that he had only managed to resist a drop of soy sauce; if it were a drop of cold water, the spiritual pressure would be exponentially heavier.
Still, she told Jiji to be proud. His training was already proving highly effective at suppressing the Evil Eye’s influence. Seiko confidently assured him that if he kept training with this level of dedication, he would eventually be able to live a completely normal life again.
3. The Evil Eye Attacks Momo
Later, Seiko, Manjiro, Jiji, and Aira welcomed Okarun and Momo as they finally arrived home. Shivering, the two teens complained about the freezing night air. They both grabbed their thermoses of hot water, intending to drink them to warm up.
Aira and Jiji walked over together to ask what had kept them out so late. But as they approached, Aira accidentally bumped into Jiji. The drink in her hand spilled, splashing directly onto Jiji’s face.
Okarun, Seiko, and Momo reacted instantly, aiming their thermoses to splash hot water onto Jiji. But it was too late. The Evil Eye violently seized control and instantly generated his cursed house, sealing himself inside so the hot water splashed harmlessly against the barrier.
To their horror, the Evil Eye had trapped Momo inside the cursed house with him. Her arms were violently yanked upward and pinned against the ceiling, leaving her completely immobilized. The Evil Eye slowly approached her, intent on slaughtering her.
Panicking, Seiko hurled warding talismans at the house, but they simply bounced off the exterior. Okarun transformed and threw himself at the cursed walls, but the barrier proved completely impenetrable.
Inside, the Evil Eye wrapped his hands around Momo’s throat, choking her. But luck was on her side—she hadn’t swallowed the hot water she had just taken from her thermos. Thinking fast, Momo forcefully spat the scalding water directly into the Evil Eye’s face. Instantly, the cursed house shattered, and Jiji snapped back to normal.
4. Jiji & Okarun
Okarun rushed in, forcefully shoving Jiji away from Momo. He quickly dropped to Momo’s side to make sure she was okay. Meanwhile, Seiko hurried over to Jiji, gently calming him down and telling him not to blame himself.
Later that night, Okarun and Jiji lay in their shared bedroom, their futons laid out side by side. The room was suffocatingly tense. Both boys lay with their backs turned to each other, refusing to speak a single word.
In another room, Aira and Momo shared a similar setup. Aira sincerely apologized to Momo for being so careless and spilling her drink on Jiji, acknowledging that her clumsiness had almost gotten Momo killed by the Evil Eye. Momo waved it off casually, telling her that what happened, happened. She told Aira to stop worrying and just go to sleep.
5. The Mantis Refuses to Train Okarun
At the dairy farm, the Mantis—currently disguised as a human and working as a farmhand—was busy feeding the cows. Soon after, Okarun arrived to see him. Okarun immediately dropped to his knees and bowed his head to the dirt, begging the Mantis to take him on as a student so he could learn boxing. But the Mantis flatly refused, stating he had no desire to teach violence to anyone.
That evening, Okarun returned to Seiko’s house. Walking into the living room, he saw Seiko keeping Jiji company while he ate dinner. Jiji glanced up, locking eyes with Okarun for a brief second before awkwardly looking away. Okarun stood in silence. Watching the interaction, Seiko clearly understood the heavy, unspoken tension between the two boys.
6. The Duty of Adults
Later that night, Manjiro and Seiko sat alone, having a serious conversation. Manjiro argued that living with a cursed spirit as dangerous as the Evil Eye was a ticking time bomb. He urged Seiko to call the Hayashi Group back immediately. He even offered to perform the exorcism chant himself if Seiko didn’t have the heart to put Jiji through it.
Manjiro stood up, ready to leave and contact the Hayashi Group right then and there. But Seiko quietly called him out, saying he was being far too cruel. Manjiro froze in his tracks. In a calm, measured tone, Seiko firmly stated that as adults, it was their absolute duty to shoulder the burdens of the children, allowing them the freedom to actually live their lives.
Manjiro turned back, arguing that exposing children to harsh reality was also part of an adult’s responsibility. He admitted he admired Jiji’s spirit and his determination to control the Evil Eye, but added that if it was ultimately impossible, then it was impossible. With those final words, Manjiro walked out, leaving Seiko alone.
7. The Turbo Granny Trains Okarun
Out in the yard, Okarun stood reading a boxing manual, awkwardly practicing punches in the air. The Turbo Granny walked up and bluntly asked why he was trying to learn how to box. Okarun replied that he needed to get stronger so he could beat the Evil Eye to a pulp.
The Turbo Granny scoffed, telling him that just learning how to throw a punch wouldn’t make him strong. She explained that in terms of sheer power and technical skill, the Evil Eye was several leagues above him. In fact, the entity’s speed rivaled the maximum output of the Turbo Granny’s own spiritual power within Okarun’s body.
Frustrated, Okarun admitted he didn’t know what else to do. The Turbo Granny stared at him and asked: did he actually want to learn how to box, or did he just want to get stronger? Okarun firmly answered that he wanted to get stronger.
Hearing that, she ordered him to follow her. She grumbled that she hated watching him act so pathetically weak while borrowing her power. She agreed to train him—on the strict condition that he possessed the resolve to die trying.
8. The Music Room
In the dead of night, the Turbo Granny and Okarun arrived at the high school. As Okarun climbed over the front gate, Aira suddenly popped up behind him, startling him. It turned out she had been secretly tailing them all the way from Seiko’s house.
Once inside the school grounds, Aira sprinted to catch up, relentlessly following Okarun and the Turbo Granny. The spirit told Okarun to ignore the girl and ordered Aira to go home, but Aira stubbornly refused, demanding to know what Okarun was planning to do.
It wasn’t until they sneaked into the school building that Aira finally learned the truth: Okarun was seeking to grow stronger by training under the Turbo Granny. Hearing this, Aira boldly declared that she wanted to get stronger, too.
9. The Difference Between Okarun & The Evil Eye
The Turbo Granny led Okarun and Aira into the school’s music room. The two teens stared at the portraits of famous classical composers lining the walls. The Turbo Granny hopped onto the piano bench and began striking a single key, establishing a steady, monotonous rhythm. Following her orders, Okarun jumped and landed exactly on the beat.
She explained her point: while Okarun was only capable of executing two movements—jumping and landing—within a single beat, the Evil Eye could flawlessly execute four. And if they factored in his negative energy spheres and the cursed house, the Evil Eye could execute up to ten distinct actions in a single beat. He was essentially playing a wildly complex sequence of rapid notes within the exact same tempo.
Processing this, Okarun concluded that the Evil Eye was just physically faster than the Turbo Granny. She instantly barked at him, furious, and flatly told him he was completely wrong. She confidently declared she was a billion times faster than the Evil Eye.
She elaborated, explaining that pure speed meant nothing without technical precision. Holding up a metronome, the Turbo Granny told Okarun that his movements were far too monotonous, lacking dynamic rhythm. In combat, the one who can pack the most actions into a single beat—the one who can execute the most precise maneuvers within a split second—dictates the flow of the battle and claims victory.
10. The Orchestra Ghosts
Suddenly, a ghostly figure materialized at the piano, slamming its hands onto the keys. A deafening, chaotic burst of orchestral music immediately followed, so painfully loud that Aira and Okarun were forced to cover their ears. Unfazed, the Turbo Granny smirked and muttered, “They finally showed up.”
Moments later, six ghostly figures floated before them, each clutching a different instrument: a clarinet, a violin, a conductor’s baton, a piano, a cello, and a trumpet. With echoing, overlapping voices, the ghosts demanded to know who had dared to play such filthy, unrefined music in their presence.
