Qiuqa put together 10 key points after watching Dandadan Episode 5.

1. Searching for Each Other

Okarun had spent all night practicing his morning greeting for Momo. When he arrived at school, he saw her standing by the gate as if she were waiting for someone. Assuming she was waiting for someone else, Okarun walked right past and completely ignored her.

Suddenly, Momo bumped into his back. “You took forever!” she exclaimed. She immediately pulled him along so they could walk into the school together, filling Okarun with joy.

During class, Okarun could think of nothing else but chatting with Momo about ghosts. Meanwhile, Momo had only one thing on her mind: talking to Okarun about aliens.

When recess arrived, Momo went to Okarun’s classroom but couldn’t find him. At the exact same time, Okarun went to Momo’s class and missed her. Okarun then headed to the cafeteria, but Momo wasn’t there. Momo went to the school store, but Okarun was nowhere to be seen. Okarun hurried to the store, still missing her. Finally, Momo checked the cafeteria, but there was still no sign of Okarun.

2. Finally Meeting

Momo and Okarun eventually sat down on a bench in the school courtyard. Momo sat on the right side, while Okarun sat on the left. They sat close together, separated only by a thin partition wall in the middle.

Okarun assumed Momo was intentionally avoiding him, feeling like he was nothing more than a backup friend. Meanwhile, Momo thought Okarun was keeping his distance because he was annoyed by her being overly talkative, especially since he had seemed in such a bad mood that morning.

Lost in their own thoughts, Momo and Okarun began walking without paying attention to where they were going. Momo stepped to the left, while Okarun stepped to the right. They collided—and their lips met in a completely accidental kiss.

Both sprang back in shock. They admitted that they had been desperately looking for each other the entire time. An awkward tension settled between them as they realized they had both mistakenly thought the other was avoiding them.

3. The Fight

Suddenly, Miko and Muko’s screams shattered the silence. Shocked to see Okarun and Momo kissing, the two girls immediately concluded that they were officially dating.

Momo frantically denied it, declaring it was impossible for her to willingly kiss an idiot like Okarun. Okarun snapped back, retorting that he would never want to kiss a stupid girl like her either. A bitter argument broke out. They yelled at each other and ultimately agreed to stop speaking entirely.

Later, while peeing in the restroom, Okarun was horrified to discover that his “sausage’s meatballs” were missing. Panicking, he sprinted to Momo’s classroom, where she was hanging out with a crowd of her female friends. Okarun announced that he needed to talk to her about a massive problem. Momo, however, coldly told him to leave.

Deeply disappointed, Okarun asked, “Is being friends with me really that embarrassing?” With that, he turned and left the classroom.

4. Aira

After school, Aira bumped into Okarun’s shoulder while walking. She immediately apologized, asking, “Are you hurt?” Okarun grew awkward and blushed when Aira complimented him, calling him a nice guy. Momo, who happened to witness the scene, saw how friendly they looked. She was surprised to see that Okarun actually had other friends.

Unbeknownst to Okarun, Aira later told her friends that he was a complete idiot and had definitely fallen for her. She bragged about stringing the loser along, confidently stating that no girl would ever actually like him. She tossed out these insults just as she walked past Momo.

Overhearing her, Momo used her aura hands to forcefully knock a washbasin off the top of a nearby locker. The basin plummeted, striking Aira square on the head and knocking her flat on the floor.

Momo then grabbed Okarun’s hand and walked right past Aira and her stunned friends. Shooting them a cynical glare, she remarked, “A stupid girl wouldn’t understand Okarun’s charm. Instead of making guys fall for you, you’re better off getting knocked down by a washbasin.”

5. The Meatballs

Momo and Okarun walked home together. Along the way, Momo apologized for treating him so poorly, assuring him that being his friend wasn’t embarrassing at all. Okarun replied that it didn’t bother him; he was just happy they had made up.

However, Okarun revealed that he was facing a massive crisis. Even though they had defeated the Turbo Granny and he got his “sausage” back, his “meatballs” were now missing.

At Momo’s house, she burst into hysterical laughter over the tragedy of Okarun’s missing “meatballs.” Seiko then scolded Okarun, reminding him that she had previously asked him to show her his “sausage,” but he had refused. She was baffled that he was only just now realizing the missing pieces.

Seiko then performed a ritual on Okarun. She examined his body using a mirror, then told Momo to grab any doll she could find along with a washbasin full of water. Okarun sat in a chair and placed both feet into the basin. In front of him sat a beckoning cat figure (maneki-neko) with a talisman attached to it.

After Seiko struck Okarun’s back with a fan, Momo forcefully yanked a strange aura out of his body. Suddenly, the talisman attached to the cat figure turned blood red. Unexpectedly, the figure sprang to life and tried to make a run for it, sending Seiko, Okarun, and Momo into a frantic chase.

6. How the Turbo Granny Survived

Momo closed her eyes. She sensed the presence of strange energy hiding inside a storage room and grabbed the aura using her tactile telekinesis. Alongside Okarun, she approached the source of the energy, finding the cat figure lying weakly on the floor, groaning in pain. It even spoke, begging to be let go.

Momo and Okarun wondered what kind of entity was actually residing inside the cat figure. Seiko then revealed the truth: it was the Turbo Granny.

Lazing casually on the floor, the Turbo Granny declared there was no way she could be defeated by snot-nosed brats. She then explained exactly how she had survived being incinerated by the barrier technique. In that critical moment, she had immediately shifted into her spirit form, swam through the flames, and slipped inside the unconscious Okarun’s body.

Because she was on the verge of death, her energy signature became incredibly weak and nearly impossible to detect. She had planned to hide within Okarun’s body until her spiritual power fully recovered. Once the time was right, the Turbo Granny fully intended to slaughter Okarun, Momo, and Seiko.

7. The Turbo Granny’s Threat

Okarun demanded the Turbo Granny return his “meatballs” immediately, seeing as she could no longer escape. But the Turbo Granny casually replied, “If I die, your meatballs are gone forever.” She confidently asserted that she was still the one holding the cards.

With a threatening tone, the Turbo Granny ordered Okarun to grab a knife and slaughter Seiko and Momo. Only if he obeyed would his “meatballs” be returned. When Okarun fiercely refused, the Turbo Granny snapped at him, insisting he had no choice but to do exactly as she said.

8. Okarun Transforms

Furious at her demand, Okarun instantly transformed. Momo and the Turbo Granny were completely stunned—how could Okarun transform again when the Turbo Granny’s spirit and curse were no longer inside his body?

Moments later, Okarun reverted to his human form. Bewildered, Momo asked, “How were you able to transform?”

Okarun admitted he had no idea. Drowning in sheer rage, his body had just transformed entirely on its own.

9. Seiko Explains the Situation

Seiko explained that the fan she used to strike Okarun’s back was specifically designed to exorcise evil spirits from the body. She theorized that the Turbo Granny’s spirit had latched onto Okarun so tightly that the fan’s strike had only managed to separate her consciousness.

This meant that the Turbo Granny’s actual spiritual power still resided within Okarun’s body, while her consciousness was now trapped inside the cat figure.

Seiko informed the Turbo Granny that only she had the power to restore her consciousness back to her true spirit form. Panic set in, and the Turbo Granny broke into a cold sweat. She admitted fault and frantically apologized to Seiko.

Unforgiving, Seiko vented her anger by mercilessly beating the Turbo Granny with her fan.

10. The Turbo Granny Becomes a Friend

Momo admitted that even though the Turbo Granny was undeniably cunning, she just couldn’t bring herself to hate her. She believed the Turbo Granny shared her deep sympathy for the spirits of the girls who had died in the haunted tunnel.

Momo then offered the Turbo Granny a chance to be friends. She promised that if the Turbo Granny returned Okarun’s “meatballs,” they would help restore her full power.

The Turbo Granny agreed to form a truce and be friends with Momo, Okarun, and Seiko. However, she dropped a massive bombshell: she didn’t currently have Okarun’s “meatballs,” because she had accidentally dropped them somewhere along the way.
