Qiuqa put together 10 key points after watching Ninja Kamui Episode 7.

1. Lil vs. Higan

Lil is thrilled to fight Higan. She wields six swords—three in each hand—while Higan relies on only two. Lil attempts to slash all six blades at Higan’s head simultaneously, but he manages to catch both of her wrists. Higan then kicks her in the stomach with both feet, sending her flying through the air until she smashes into a concrete wall.

Feigning unconsciousness, Lil waits for Higan to approach. However, Higan swiftly leaps into the air to dodge her sudden blast of fire. In the blink of an eye, Lil appears behind him, attacking with her three swords. Higan barely deflects the surprise strike. The battle between Higan and Lil is fierce and evenly matched. Both parry each other’s attacks with incredible agility, neither able to land a clean blow.

Next, Lil unleashes a barrage of micro-missiles at Higan. Thanks to the Kamui Gusoku Gear, Higan evades the high-speed, heat-seeking projectiles. The more intensely he visualizes his movements, the faster the Kamui gear executes them. Ultimately, the missiles simply cannot keep up with his blinding speed.

Lil then exhales a massive torrent of fire. Undeterred, Higan dashes straight through the flames and tackles her, driving her body through multiple buildings. As the dust settles, Lil’s Gusoku Gear is shattered, and both of Higan’s swords are buried in her chest. Lil is paralyzed.

Awestruck by Higan’s prowess, Lil confesses her profound satisfaction at finally fighting a true shinobi. She bites down on a detonator hidden in her teeth and embraces Higan, intending to take him with her in a suicide blast. Higan, however, moves fast enough to escape the massive explosion. He even pulls Lil to safety, refusing to let her die so easily.

2. Higan Sends Lil’s Crushed Head to Auza & Master Yamaji’s Decision

Big D, Dilly, Joseph, and Master Yamaji attend an Auza board meeting.

Dilly presents a package delivered to Auza headquarters that morning: Lil’s crushed, severed head. Joseph admits he wants to acquire Higan’s operational data, fascinated that Higan could master the Gusoku Gear on his very first try. Big D and Dilly dismiss Joseph’s idea as absurd, mocking his willingness to offer a massive payout to recruit Higan.

Joseph then asks if Yamaji plans to avenge Lil’s death. Yamaji confirms he is accelerating the operation to eliminate Higan, a decision that deeply pleases Joseph.

Later, Master Yamaji holds a private meeting with Zai. He asks if Zai still remembers the skies of Japan. There, birds fly free without the need for a home, their eyes fixed only on the distant hills. As if understanding the underlying message, Zai kneels, pledging to follow Yamaji wherever he goes.

Yamaji approaches Zai and places a hand on his shoulder. He tells Zai he will no longer hold him back, giving him full blessing to hunt down and kill Higan.

3. Emma & Higan’s Conversation

Inside the truck, Emma tells Higan that the executives equipped with Gusoku Gear are considered the strongest figures in the organization. By defeating Lil, Higan has shattered that invincible image. She tells him not to worry about an immediate counterattack; she knows the organization won’t make a move until they secure a foolproof method to eliminate him.

Feeling uncomfortable under Higan’s intense stare, Emma bluntly states she has no interest in dating a married man. Realizing he is simply hesitating to ask something, she invites him to speak his mind.

Higan asks about her connection to Mari. Emma reveals that Mari saved her life, and she is only alive today because of her.

4. Mari as Emma’s Ninja Mentor

One night, Emma was on an undercover mission. She slipped into an old man’s room and assassinated him. Suddenly, she froze as a mysterious figure held a blade to her throat from behind. The figure reminded her of a cardinal rule: for a ninja, even a moment of carelessness invites death.

The figure then lowered the blade. Emma turned around to find Mari, who had been assigned to oversee her. Mari declared that Emma had passed her ninja exam and took her on as her partner.

Every mission Emma and Mari undertook was a success, from extracting server data and stealing classified documents to eliminating targets. Emma deeply admired Mari’s unwavering composure in the field, coming to view her as the embodiment of the ideal ninja.

Emma also learned about the three elite prodigies: Higan, Mari, and Zai. One of them was destined to lead the organization. The elders entrusted these three with the organization’s core dream: the pride of living as true shinobi and dedicating their lives to protecting Japan.

Emma and Mari grew close and met often. Mari shared stories of growing up and training alongside Higan and Zai since childhood. Feeling insecure, Emma confessed she could never imagine befriending the legendary Zai and Higan. Mari eased her anxieties by revealing their childish quirks.

Emma once confided in Mari about her struggles as a ninja. She feared forming close bonds, knowing they fostered emotions. The shinobi code strictly forbade feelings, viewing them as a fatal weakness on the battlefield. At the time, Mari offered no response.

As her mentor, Mari eventually taught Emma her secret jutsu. Mari stabbed a rabbit, but the moment she pulled the blade out, the rabbit darted away unharmed. Mari explained that her technique could plunge a person into suspended animation, simulating death. She firmly believed a time would come when Emma would need it. Back in the present, Emma tells Higan that the time she spent with Mari was the happiest of her life.

5. The History of Emma’s Face

Mari once asked why Emma always wore a mask. Emma explained that her face was severely disfigured in a childhood accident. The scarring was so horrific that her parents couldn’t bear to look at her and abandoned her.

The organization then took her in. The elder decreed that her face was no longer that of an honorable human, instructing her to become a ninja so she could transform into anyone. Inspired by his words, Emma embraced the art of disguise.

Mari asked for permission to remove Emma’s mask. Though frightened, Emma agreed. Mari softly remarked that her real face was beautiful. Emma rejected the compliment, seeing only hideous burn scars.

Mari urged her to wear her face with pride as a true ninja. Back in the present, Emma tells Higan that in that moment, she genuinely believed Mari. For the first time, she felt valued not just as a tool, but as a human being.

6. Master Yamaji Forces the Organization to Train Foreign Ninjas

Master Yamaji flew in squads of foreign ninjas to Japan on several planes. He ordered the organization’s members to teach these outsiders their sacred martial arts and swordsmanship. Mamat and Emma observed the training from afar.

Standing beside Emma, Mamat muttered that a true ninja embeds their very soul into their blade, while these foreigners viewed swords merely as murder weapons. He lamented Yamaji’s decision to align with them.

Emma later reported to Yamaji that the foreign training was proceeding as planned. Yamaji suddenly asked her what it meant to be a ninja. Emma replied that a ninja’s duty is to protect the peace of Japan. She fell silent, however, when Yamaji countered: if Japan disappeared, would ninjas vanish too?

Afterward, Emma met with Mari, confessing her distaste for the drastic changes taking hold since Yamaji and his foreign mercenaries arrived. She pleaded with Mari to become the new leader and restore the organization’s honor.

Mari shook her head, stating she was no longer worthy of the organization having broken the ninja code. To Emma’s shock, Mari revealed her romantic relationship with Higan, confessing she was pregnant with his child.

7. Master Yamaji’s Coup

Meanwhile, the ailing elder leading the organization was bedridden. He soon passed away, and his cremation ceremony was attended by Master Yamaji and all the clan’s members. In the wake of the elder’s death, Yamaji seized control, declaring that the organization would sever ties with Japanese law.

Yamaji announced plans to transition the clan under a much larger global command, threatening exile and execution for anyone who opposed his vision.

Although Mamat vehemently opposed Yamaji’s greed, he tried to stop Jamal and Atun from attacking the new master. It was in vain; mid-air, Jamal and Atun were suddenly paralyzed and choked by Yamaji’s shadow control jutsu.

With a single, fluid strike of his sword, Yamaji simultaneously decapitated both men. A few loyalists attempted to fight back, but Yamaji’s foreign mercenaries quickly suppressed the uprising.

8. Rogue Ninjas & the Holographic Face Shield

Mamat held a covert meeting with several remaining loyalists. He admitted that if they pooled their strength, they might be able to kill Yamaji. However, he rejected the idea of a rebellion, convinced they would all die in the aftermath.

If they perished, the centuries-old ideology passed down by their ancestors would die with them. Therefore, Mamat urged them to defect and become rogue ninjas, ensuring the true shinobi way survived for future generations.

Later, Mari met with Mamat to show him the holographic face-changing device she had been secretly utilizing.

Mari assured Mamat that the technology would allow him and the defectors to escape the organization entirely undetected. Grateful, Mamat thanked her for the devices and prayed for her baby’s safe delivery.

9. Emma & Mari’s Duel

Emma tailed Mari down a deserted street. Confronting her, Emma revealed her true purpose: a secret mission from the late elder to test the leadership candidates. If a candidate was deemed unworthy, Emma’s orders were to assassinate them. Emma apologized for deceiving her, but was stunned when Mari calmly admitted she had known about the mission since the day they met.

Desperate, Emma begged Mari to abort her child and return to her life as a shinobi. Instead, Mari drew her weapon. The two clashed in a fierce sword fight, which culminated in Emma grazing Mari’s cheek.

Mari was caught off guard, realizing Emma had been hiding her exceptional swordsmanship all along. Emma coldly stated that lies and deception were essential skills for a spy.

The two readied their ultimate strikes. In the final clash, Mari’s sword was knocked away, leaving Emma’s blade inches from her throat. Yet, Emma acknowledged that Mari would have won had she not instinctively shifted to protect her unborn child.

Emma confessed she was utterly lost. She wanted to live as a shinobi, but the clan was no longer the same, and the thought of becoming a rogue exile filled her with shame. Resolving to end her turmoil, Emma prepared to commit seppuku, but Mari physically stopped her.

Mari finally answered the question Emma had asked long ago about the ninja code forbidding emotion. She explained that her unborn child gave her a family and true meaning. Emotions don’t kill a ninja, Mari told her; they give life purpose.

Embracing her, Mari declared Emma to be her family, begging her to live. Tearfully, Emma yielded. She had come to see Mari as family, too. In fact, Emma confessed she had forgotten her own parents’ faces; whenever she tried to picture them, she only saw Mari.

10. Emma Decides to Operate as a Spy

Before Mari left the clan, she asked Emma about her next move. Emma declared she would stay inside the organization to monitor its actions under Auza’s control, acting as a mole. She planned to use this inside intel to aid her exiled comrades.

Over the years, the two maintained secret communications. Emma shared that the organization had deployed her as an undercover FBI agent, working under a boss named Mike.

In turn, Mari described domestic life as its own kind of battlefield, joking that raising a child was far harder than any ninja mission. She also spoke fondly of Higan’s genuine, open nature and unshakeable resolve—traits that had made him the strongest shinobi of them all.

Back in the present, Higan and Emma continue their conversation. Emma notes that Mari always fought to protect something, cementing her legacy as a true ninja. Inspired by her, Emma dedicated herself entirely to her espionage mission, determined to uncover Master Yamaji’s endgame. When Higan asks about Yamaji’s objective, Emma reveals that the clan leader is currently orchestrating a massive, far-reaching conspiracy.
