Qiuqa put together 10 key points after watching Dandadan Episode 9.
1. Aira’s Transformed Mode

After successfully repelling two Serpo aliens by manipulating her hair, Aira—in her transformed state—sprinted toward the third Serpian and attacked with her ponytails.
However, the third alien’s psychokinetic blast deflected her hair right back at her. The impact sent Aira flying backward, crashing into the Mantis alien behind her, sending them both tumbling. The Mantis pleaded with the Serpian to watch its fire, but the alien coldly replied that the Mantis was cheap and easily replaceable.
Aira quickly recovered, dodging a punch from the Mantis and countering with a brutal, uppercut-style kick to its neck. The strike launched the Mantis upward, pinning its head and body directly into the ceiling.
The third alien then slammed Aira through a wall, generating an intense gravitational pressure that forcefully deactivated her transformation. Paralyzed and unable to move, Aira could do nothing as the Mantis lunged with blinding speed, delivering a devastating punch to her stomach. The blow shattered the remaining wall, sending Aira crashing to the floor below.
2. Momo Appears

As the three Serpo aliens and the Mantis loomed over Aira’s fallen body, Okarun suddenly transformed, appearing instantly by her side. Within a split second, however, both Okarun and Aira collapsed to the ground, completely immobilized by a crushing gravitational force.
One of the Serpians revealed that they were trapped inside an extraordinary zone—a spatial prison forged by combining the telekinetic powers of all three Serpians. Because the aliens themselves couldn’t enter this zone, they ordered the Mantis to go in and finish the job. The Mantis ruthlessly pummeled Okarun, filling Aira with dread.
But astonishingly, Okarun reignited his transformation, catching the Mantis’s punch with a single hand. He retaliated with a vicious headbutt to the creature’s stomach, launching it into a concrete pillar and knocking it unconscious.
The Serpians were stunned that anyone could withstand their combined telekinesis. Suddenly, Momo stepped out of the shadows—she had been secretly pushing back against their psychic pressure using her own esper powers.
3. The Mantis Shrimp Monster

A Serpian smacked the unconscious Mantis on the head, threatening to cut its pay. The Mantis groaned, complaining that it couldn’t fight anymore. Without another word, the Serpian injected its tail directly into the Mantis’s head, mutating it into a terrifying mantis shrimp monster.
Okarun and Aira immediately transformed. Aira launched a rapid flurry of kicks, but the Mantis seamlessly blocked them using four shield-like appendages on its arms. It countered with an invisible, blindingly fast punch that struck Aira, instantly launching her upward where she got stuck in the ceiling.
Just as the Mantis moved to strike the suspended Aira, Okarun blurred into motion. He grabbed her and vanished, dodging the lethal blow.
Holding Aira securely in one arm, Okarun positioned her perfectly for an acrobatic counterattack. Aira swung a fierce kick backward, landing a clean hit to the Mantis’s head and sending it crashing to the floor.
4. Nessie Emerges

Suddenly, the room flooded with water, submerging everything and forcing Okarun, Momo, and Aira to swim toward the surface for air. Momo was shocked to discover that the building’s walls and ceiling had turned into water, yielding completely to the touch. Her shock deepened when she saw the massive Nessie alien swimming straight toward them, a sight that left Okarun staring in sheer awe.
The wonder quickly turned to panic when Nessie turned on the Serpians instead, slicing one of them in half with a devastating laser beam. Momo and Okarun frantically swam away to escape the chaos. Aira, however, remained frozen, mesmerized by Nessie. By the time she snapped out of it and looked back, she was horrified to see she had fallen far behind her friends.
Without warning, a massive geyser erupted from below, blasting Aira upward into the watery ceiling. The sheer force knocked her unconscious, and she began to sink. The eruption had come from the Mantis, lurking in the depths and throwing punches so powerful they triggered explosive shockwaves on the surface.
Momo and Okarun swam even faster, narrowly dodging the relentless barrage. The Mantis boasted that its mantis shrimp mutation unlocked its true potential underwater, multiplying its punching power tenfold compared to dry land. However, it couldn’t stay submerged indefinitely; it still needed to surface for air. Momo quickly deduced that the monster was still relying on lungs to breathe.
5. Saving Aira

Momo ordered Okarun to take out the Mantis, convinced that the Turbo Granny’s power would let him swim at supersonic speeds. Okarun transformed and prepared to dive into the fight. Instead, he instantly sank like a stone, his transformation fizzling out entirely.
Resurfacing, he awkwardly informed Momo that the Turbo Granny’s powers simply couldn’t be used for swimming. Left with no other choice, Momo and Okarun swam as fast as they could, desperately dodging the Mantis’s relentless barrage of explosive water punches.
Momo was terrified for Aira, knowing the girl would drown if they didn’t reach her in time. Meanwhile, the Mantis surfaced for a breath of air, looming directly behind them.
Momo climbed onto Okarun’s back as he paddled forward. Summoning her aura hands, she firmly gripped Okarun’s body and violently propelled him forward. The psychic thrust launched Okarun across the water like a high-speed speedboat.
When the Mantis threw a massive shockwave at them, Momo used the wave’s momentum to launch Okarun into the air. They breached the watery ceiling where Aira was trapped and dragged her to the surface. Momo immediately began forceful chest compressions until Aira finally coughed up water and regained consciousness.
6. The Serpo Mantis

A surviving Serpian swam frantically, dodging the laser blasts from the relentlessly pursuing Nessie. It eventually approached the Mantis, noting that while the Mantis’s underwater strikes were devastating, its need for air allowed their prey to easily escape.
Catching on to the Serpian’s sinister implication, the Mantis panicked and tried to swim away. But it was too late—the Serpian’s true goal was a forced fusion, violently jacking a thick cable from its own body straight into the Mantis.
Meanwhile, Okarun prepared to dive back down, acting as a human submarine with both Momo and Aira riding on his back.
Plunging beneath the surface, they were greeted by a horrifying sight: the Serpian had forcefully merged with both Nessie and the Mantis, creating a grotesque new monstrosity—the Serpo Mantis. It possessed the cold face of a Serpian, the massive serpentine body of Nessie, and the devastating mantis shrimp fists of the Mantis.
7. Momo Gets an Idea

Aira transformed, lashing her hair around the Serpo Mantis’s body to pull herself in for a high-speed kick. Unfazed, the Serpo Mantis instantly drove a fist into her stomach, paralyzing her. It followed up with a brutal underwater barrage, sending Aira hurtling upward.
The creature then fired a lethal laser blast directly at the incapacitated girl. Acting swiftly, Momo used her esper powers to propel Okarun, intercepting Aira mere milliseconds before the beam could vaporize her. Okarun and Momo dragged her safely back to the surface.
Okarun grimly assessed the situation: the Serpo Mantis was simply too powerful. Between the laser beams and the mantis shrimp strikes, they were completely outmatched underwater. He believed they might stand a chance on dry land, but here, they were sitting ducks. Hearing the words “mantis shrimp,” a sudden realization washed over Momo, sparking a brilliant idea.
8. The Serpo Mantis’s Weakness

Suddenly, a hydro-punch from the Serpo Mantis unleashed a massive shockwave that blasted Okarun, Momo, and Aira apart. Refusing to back down, Momo dove straight back into the water, swimming directly toward the monster.
The beast prepared to strike, raising both massive arms to crush her like a mosquito. Momo floated motionlessly, seemingly resigning herself to the unavoidable attack.
But a fraction of a second before the fists connected, Momo unleashed a psychic blast straight downward. The force parted the water around them, creating a massive, spherical pocket of pure air. Both Momo and the Serpo Mantis were suddenly suspended in a dry void, surrounded by towering walls of displaced water.
Striking nothing but thin air, the monster’s fists missed Momo completely. The sheer, unchecked kinetic force snapped both of its arms clean off its shoulders.
Momo smirked, telling the beast that the Serpians never should have assimilated a mantis shrimp. She explained that her science teacher had taught her a crucial fact: a mantis shrimp’s punch is only effective underwater. If thrown in the air or on land, the sheer acceleration and force would rebound, destroying the creature’s own limbs. By striking with full force inside an air pocket, the Serpo Mantis had utterly obliterated its own arms.
9. Okarun Destroys the Serpo Mantis

Momo sealed herself inside a spherical aura shield filled with air. Enraged, the Serpo Mantis clamped its jaws around the glowing sphere. Since its new body could survive underwater for hours, it dragged Momo deep into the abyss.
The monster gloated that Momo faced only two possible fates: drowning once she ran out of oxygen and her shield burst, or being vaporized at point-blank range by its laser.
But on the surface, Aira and Okarun were already making their move. Both transformed. Aira unleashed her hair, sending it plunging into the depths to tightly bind the Serpo Mantis’s jaws shut. Meanwhile, Okarun prepared to use her taut, extended hair as a high-speed runway leading directly down to the monster.
From inside her fading shield, Momo extended her aura hands all the way to the surface, enveloping Aira’s hair in a psychic slipstream. When Momo’s shield finally shattered, the compressed air within her aura formed a hollow, breathable tunnel all the way down, allowing Okarun to sprint underwater at maximum velocity.
Blurring like lightning, Okarun bolted down the pathway, snatched Momo right out of the Serpo Mantis’s jaws, and drove his momentum straight through the beast’s core. The sheer kinetic impact was so catastrophic that the Serpo Mantis violently exploded.
10. A Humiliating Moment

In a flash, reality reasserted itself. Okarun and Momo tumbled out of the dimensional void, crashing onto the floor of a school hallway right outside a classroom. Soaking wet, they lay entangled in an awkward embrace, with Okarun pinned heavily on top of Momo.
The students inside the classroom stared in absolute shock—Momo was wearing nothing but a bikini, and Okarun was completely naked.
Panicking, the two scrambled to their feet and sprinted down the hall, desperately looking for a place to hide. A moment later, Aira popped out of the void behind them, also wearing nothing but a bikini. Humiliated in front of a crowd, all three fled down the corridor together in a frantic panic.
