1. The Ritual
In Momo’s yard, Seiko—flanked by Manjiro and Momo—conducted a solemn ritual in front of the family shrine. Taro’s anatomical body, currently acting as a prison for the Evil Eye, lay flat on a table facing a blazing fire. Chiquitita, Okarun, and the Mantis were also present, quietly offering their prayers during the ceremony.
However, the ritual completely failed. Jiji’s body remained entirely under the Evil Eye’s control. Smug and arrogant, the yokai mocked them, declaring that Seiko’s pathetic ritual was utterly useless.
2. Dinner Conversation
Afterward, Seiko hosted a dinner party for Momo, Okarun, the Mantis, Chiquitita, Taro, the Turbo Granny, Manjiro, and Aira. As the group settled into a relaxed atmosphere, Aira voiced a loud complaint.
She demanded to know why she—the self-proclaimed leader of their group—had been completely left out of the mission to cleanse Jiji’s house. Momo shot her a skeptical look, questioning why Aira had even shown up for dinner if she hadn’t lifted a finger to help during the actual mission.
Aira also asked why the Mantis had returned to Earth. The Mantis explained that the cow he had brought back to his home planet refused to produce any milk. To ensure Chiquitita’s survival, he had decided to relocate to Earth permanently so his child could have a steady supply of milk every day. Deeply moved by the story, Aira threw her arms around Chiquitita in a warm hug.
Seiko then informed Manjiro that, for the time being, Jiji’s body would remain confined inside Taro. Manjiro, however, expressed serious doubts about the Hayashi Group—the exorcist faction Seiko planned to hire—actually being able to expel the Evil Eye. He argued that Jiji’s natural spiritual power was simply too immense, making it incredibly difficult to forcefully detach the Evil Eye from his body.
3. Jiji Returns
Suddenly, as Taro tried to feed himself a piece of oden, his body forcefully jolted backward. To everyone’s shock, Jiji’s voice screamed from Taro’s mouth, “Hot!”
Seiko instantly went on high alert, warning the group to stay cautious, noting that evil spirits were fully capable of mimicking a person’s voice. She ordered Taro to remove his faceplate. Sure enough, Jiji’s face had returned to normal, and his consciousness had resurfaced. Against all odds, Jiji had managed to wrest control of his body back from the Evil Eye.
To test his condition, Seiko conducted a quick experiment. She splashed cold water onto Jiji’s face, and instantly, the Evil Eye violently reclaimed control. But when Seiko splashed him with hot oden broth, Jiji immediately snapped back to normal.
4. Seiko Apologizes
Taro then spoke up, complaining about how long his body was going to be hijacked by Jiji. He whined about how he was supposed to be romantic with Hana if he was stuck in this bizarre arrangement.
Seiko firmly told Taro that, for the foreseeable future, he was strictly forbidden from seeing Hana. She laid down the law: her front gate locked at 10:00 PM, and she wasn’t going to tolerate Hana sneaking around doing weird things in the middle of the night.
Following that, Seiko’s expression turned dead serious. She bowed deeply to Okarun, Jiji, and Momo, offering a sincere and heavy apology. Riddled with guilt, she confessed that if she had known they were walking into a confrontation with the Evil Eye, she never would have let them go to the house without her. Taking full responsibility for the disaster, she formally asked for their forgiveness.
5. The Evil Eye’s Threat
Perched casually on top of a cooking pot, the Turbo Granny bluntly told the group they were incredibly naive if they thought they could permanently contain the Evil Eye using a talisman-covered plastic model.
She explained that the Evil Eye was originally a mountain yokai. Its power level was practically on par with a deity, having been worshipped by countless people for generations.
She warned them that if the Evil Eye had possessed a normal human, the host’s body would have instantly died from the strain. That was exactly why the yokai specifically targeted someone with immense spiritual power, like Jiji.
The Turbo Granny added that right now, the Evil Eye possessing Jiji was essentially still in its “infancy,” which was the only reason they had all managed to survive the encounter. However, she ominously warned that the entity would only continue to grow stronger. Eventually, they wouldn’t be able to hold it back anymore.
6. The Possession Solution
Seiko emphasized that they had to keep Jiji under strict surveillance at all times. She strictly forbade Jiji and Manjiro from leaving Kamigoe City until the Evil Eye was completely exorcised.
She explained that her barrier talismans were entirely useless outside of Kamigoe’s borders. Even so, she grimly admitted that a spirit as powerful as the Evil Eye would eventually build an immunity to the talismans anyway.
To prepare for the inevitable moments when Jiji would be possessed again, Seiko handed Okarun and Momo each a thermos filled with boiling hot water, ordering them to carry it everywhere they went. The hot water would act as an emergency reset switch: splashing it on Jiji would instantly cancel the possession and force the Evil Eye back down.
Seiko also strictly warned Jiji to be hyper-vigilant around cold water—whether from rain, drinking, or washing his hands. Even a single drop of cold water was enough to let the Evil Eye forcefully seize control of his body.
7. Visiting the Parents
The next morning, the group piled into a car to visit Jiji’s parents at the hospital. Manjiro drove, with Seiko riding shotgun. Jiji sat in the middle row alongside Taro’s disembodied head, while Okarun and Momo squeezed into the third row.
Upon arriving at the hospital, Jiji broke down in tears of relief seeing his parents finally healthy and standing right in front of him. Watching from behind a cracked door, Momo, Okarun, and Taro’s head quietly spied on the touching reunion. Momo whispered for Taro to move the body, since Jiji was completely paralyzed from the neck down, securely wrapped inside Taro’s plastic shell.
However, when Taro tried to subtly adjust the body, his movements caused Jiji to perform a bizarre, jerky dance right in front of his parents. The heartwarming moment was instantly ruined as his mother and father stared in absolute bewilderment at their son awkwardly flailing around.
8. The Fate of the Kito Family
On the television news, a reporter announced that the forest fires caused by the volcanic eruption in Byakuja Village had finally died down. The broadcast then shifted, reporting that the Kito family had been arrested by the police on multiple charges of murder and kidnapping. However, Naki Kito—the primary suspect, whose exact age remained unknown—was still at large as a fugitive.
Footage showed heavily armed police officers tracking Naki’s whereabouts through a dense forest. Hiding silently behind a large tree trunk, Naki managed to slip away undetected. Exhausted and battered, Naki bitterly mourned the death of the Tsuchinoko, a creature the family had carefully nurtured for 200 years.
Consumed by sheer rage, Naki violently toppled a tree to vent her fury, vowing never to forgive Momo. She then shed her human disguise, transforming into her true form—a monstrous, humanoid ant. Staring into the distance, she declared that Momo had officially made an enemy of the underground dwellers.
9. At School
At school, Aira stood silently outside her classroom door. She hesitated to walk in, feeling the piercing, judgmental stares of her classmates. Everyone now knew she wasn’t the perfect, innocent girl they thought she was; she had openly confessed that the nasty rumors she had spread about Momo were entirely fabricated lies.
Seeing her frozen in the doorway, Okarun and Momo walked up to her. Without making a big deal out of it, Momo simply told Aira to follow her. The rest of the class watched in total disbelief, shocked by their unexpected friendship.
A few moments later, Momo asked Aira and Okarun if they would be willing to sleep over at her house. She explained that if Jiji got possessed again, she desperately needed their help to suppress him. Since Seiko and Manjiro had to stay awake on guard duty during the day while Momo was at school, Momo wanted to make sure they could actually sleep at night.
Blushing furiously, Okarun immediately agreed—deep down, he was thrilled at the excuse to spend more time near Momo. Aira also blushed and quickly agreed, secretly jumping at the chance to be closer to Okarun.
Momo quickly clarified that she wasn’t forcing them, but Okarun and Aira answered in perfect unison that they were more than happy to stay over.
10. Jiji Gets Possessed Again
Late that afternoon, Taro’s plastic hand—which was encasing Jiji’s hand—suddenly detached and fell off on its own. Seiko quickly inspected it, confirming that the spiritual capacity of the talismans attached to Taro’s body had finally reached its absolute limit.
Seiko then gave Taro permission to fully detach his anatomical shell from Jiji. Jiji thanked Taro for his help. Seiko warned Jiji that he was now completely unprotected and ordered him to be hyper-aware of cold water at all times.
That night, Seiko served dinner for Okarun, Momo, the Turbo Granny, Aira, and Jiji. As everyone cheerfully chatted and enjoyed the meal, Seiko asked Okarun to pass the soy sauce. Sitting right next to Jiji, Okarun handed the bottle over, accidentally dripping a single drop of cold soy sauce onto Jiji’s hand.
In a fraction of a second, Jiji transformed into the Evil Eye. He violently flipped the dining table and unleashed a devastating attack that obliterated the wall of Momo’s house.
