Ever since Konohamaru was a little boy, the Third Hokage appointed Ebisu as his private tutor. As a Special Jonin and an Elite Instructor, Ebisu exclusively taught high-society individuals. From Konohamaru’s childhood to his days as a Genin, Ebisu stood faithfully by his side. He even served as the Jonin instructor for Team Konohamaru, guiding him alongside Moegi and Udon.
Ebisu considered Konohamaru his favorite student. This deep bond was proven when Pain attacked Konoha; Ebisu willingly risked his life to buy time, ensuring Konohamaru could escape and survive the invasion. As his teacher, Ebisu firmly believed that Konohamaru would one day become Hokage.
Naturally, Ebisu often tried to act cool so his student would view him as a role model. However, there were three specific moments where he completely failed, losing his dignity in front of his beloved pupil.
1. Defeated by Naruto
This story began when Konohamaru accidentally witnessed Naruto using the Oiroke no Jutsu (Sexy Jutsu) on the Third Hokage. Konohamaru was instantly impressed, seeing Naruto successfully give his grandfather a massive nosebleed and knock him out of his chair. Eager to defeat his grandfather himself, Konohamaru started tailing Naruto, begging to learn the technique.
As a strict tutor, Ebisu forbade Konohamaru from associating with Naruto. Catching the two together, Ebisu immediately tried to drag his student home. Konohamaru refused, insisting on continuing his training with his new idol.
In an act of defiance, Konohamaru attempted to use the Oiroke no Jutsu on Ebisu. Although Ebisu managed to resist the temptation, he was utterly shocked that his student had learned such an indecent jutsu. This only fueled Ebisu’s determination to isolate Konohamaru from Naruto’s influence.
Stepping in, Naruto unleashed the Kage Bunshin no Jutsu (Shadow Clone Jutsu) to challenge the elite tutor. Brimming with confidence, Ebisu accepted the duel, proudly declaring he wasn’t weak like Mizuki.

Misdiagnosing the cause of his failure, Konohamaru concluded that his Oiroke no Jutsu simply lacked sufficient “sex appeal.” Hoping to learn the true definition of sexiness, Konohamaru visited Ebisu, dragging Moegi and Udon along.
Initially, Ebisu was flattered to see his student so eager to learn. However, when Konohamaru revealed he actually wanted to study “sex appeal,” Ebisu panicked.
Konohamaru casually mentioned that Naruto had classified Jiraiya as an “extroverted pervert” and Ebisu as a “closet pervert.” Curious, Konohamaru wanted to explore this secret side of his teacher. The revelation left Ebisu highly stressed, silently cursing Naruto for having such a big mouth.
Despite his panic, Ebisu tried desperately to hide his dark side from his students. Unfortunately, Moegi and Udon stumbled upon a massive stash of adult magazines hidden in his room. Ebisu froze, completely paralyzed by shock. His humiliation peaked when Moegi, a supposedly innocent young girl, shot him a look of absolute disgust before walking out of his house.
The incident shattered Ebisu’s pride, leaving him depressed and gloomy for days. Seeking solace, he confessed his ruined dignity to Iruka, admitting he had no idea what to do. Iruka gently comforted him, reassuring the elite tutor that everyone makes mistakes and there is always a chance to make amends.
3. Naruto’s Wedding Envelope
Konohamaru, Moegi, and Udon were assigned to work the reception desk for Naruto and Hinata’s wedding, collecting the guests’ gift envelopes. Like the other invitees, Ebisu arrived and handed his envelope to Konohamaru.
Brimming with curiosity, Konohamaru asked how much money Ebisu had contributed. Trying to look cool and project the pride of a successful adult, Ebisu confidently held up three fingers, boasting that he had given “three figures.”
Konohamaru looked shocked. “Is it really okay to give so little?” he asked, holding up five fingers to reveal he had personally contributed “five figures.”
