1. The Alvida Pirates’ Attack
Aboard a cruise ship, Jamal and Amat stared out at the ocean until they spotted a drifting barrel. They quickly hauled it onto the deck.
Meanwhile, Udin, stationed in the crow’s nest atop the mainmast, announced that the Alvida Pirates’ ship was approaching. At the warning, Jamal and Amat dropped the barrel, leaving it to roll across the deck.
The pirate ship fired a cannonball that struck the cruise ship, sending the passengers into a terrified panic. Alvida’s crew swarmed aboard to plunder their valuables. Nami, one of the passengers, moved to take advantage of the chaos.
2. Coby
Coby, a member of the Alvida Pirates, found the barrel Jamal and Amat had hauled aboard. However, his crewmates Junaidi, Dadang, and Wawan quickly snatched it away, convinced it was full of wine.
Suddenly, fresh from his slumber, Luffy burst from the barrel, accidentally punching Junaidi in the face and knocking him out cold. Dadang and Wawan swung their swords to cut Luffy down, but the blades shattered against his body. Terrified, the two fled, dragging the unconscious Junaidi behind them.
Luffy asked if Coby was friends with the three men. Coby explained that he had taken a small boat out to fish when it was hijacked by Alvida’s crew. Ever since that day, he had been forced to work as their subordinate for two years.
Elsewhere, Nami had successfully gathered the passengers’ jewelry into a sack.
3. The Dream
Coby asked why, after his ship was wrecked by a whirlpool, Luffy had recklessly climbed into a barrel and drifted at sea for days. Luffy revealed his goal: to sail to the Grand Line, find the One Piece, and become King of the Pirates.
Coby insisted that was impossible. Luffy replied that he didn’t care if it was impossible or not. He was ready to risk his life to make his dream a reality.
Hearing this resolve, Coby was inspired. He revealed that he had a dream too: to join the Marines and catch criminals.
4. Luffy vs. Alvida
Suddenly, Alvida appeared and confronted Luffy and Coby. Her crew prepared to swarm Luffy. Sensing the danger, Luffy sprinted away, grabbing hold of the ship’s mast as he ran.
The pirates stared in shock as Luffy ran further forward while his arm stretched out behind him, his hand still gripping the mast. In an instant, he snapped his body back like a slingshot, rocketing into the crew and knocking them all down.
Alvida asked if he had eaten a Devil Fruit. Luffy answered that he had eaten the Gum-Gum Fruit, allowing his body to stretch like rubber. Alvida brought her iron mace down hard on his head, but Luffy only smiled, telling her the attack was useless.
Stretching his arm far behind him, Luffy launched a devastating punch into Alvida’s stomach, sending her flying far into the distance.
Shortly after, Marine ships surrounded the cruise liner to arrest the pirates. Nami boarded a small boat alongside the ship, ready to escape with her sack of jewelry. Another boat splashed down right beside hers—Luffy and Coby, ready to set sail.
