1. Kakashi Copies Zabuza’s Jutsu
Naruto’s thrown kunai grazed Zabuza’s right hand, breaking his concentration and forcing him to release the Water Prison Jutsu trapping Kakashi.
Zabuza immediately prepared to hurl the Fuma Shuriken in his left hand at Naruto, but a newly freed Kakashi intercepted his arm. With a swift, forceful shove, Kakashi sent the massive shuriken flying harmlessly into the air.
Kakashi and Zabuza leaped backward, touching down to face one another. Zabuza rapidly wove hand signs to unleash a jutsu, while Kakashi used his Sharingan to track and perfectly mirror every movement. In unison, they unleashed the Water Dragon Jutsu, sending two massive dragons crashing into each other.
2. Zabuza’s Defeat
From the branches above, Haku quietly observed the clash as Zabuza swung his massive sword, only for Kakashi to swiftly deflect the heavy blade with a kunai.
Zabuza prepared to weave another set of hand signs, and Kakashi readied himself to mirror them. Suddenly, Zabuza froze in shock, seeing an illusion of himself looming right behind Kakashi. Seizing the brief opening, Kakashi unleashed the Water Dragon Jutsu, striking Zabuza head-on.
The surging current swept Zabuza away, violently slamming his back against a tree trunk. Pinned and helpless, Zabuza asked if Kakashi could see the future. Crouched on a branch above with a kunai drawn, Kakashi coldly confirmed that he could: he saw Zabuza’s death at his hands.
3. Haku
Without warning, Haku threw two needles that buried themselves into Zabuza’s neck, dropping him instantly to the ground. He then informed Kakashi that his strike had just killed the assassin. To be certain, Kakashi checked Zabuza’s carotid artery for a pulse, confirming that Haku’s attack had indeed been fatal.
Haku then explained that he was a tracker ninja from Kirigakure, tasked specifically with hunting down and eliminating rogue traitors like Zabuza.
Naruto erupted in frustration, unable to accept that a terrifying opponent like Zabuza had been taken out so effortlessly by a kid his own age. To him, it made Team 7 look pathetic. Kakashi gently ruffled Naruto’s hair, telling him that the real world was cruel—there were kids out there Naruto’s age who were even stronger than Kakashi himself. Following this, Haku hoisted Zabuza’s body, which held his village’s secrets, and bid Kakashi farewell.
4. Kakashi Collapses
With the immediate threat gone, Kakashi stated that they still needed to escort Tazuna home. The bridge builder gratefully offered his house as a place to rest. Suddenly, Kakashi’s body went completely rigid. Pushed past his limits by the immense toll of using the Sharingan, he collapsed unconscious to the ground, leaving Team 7 and Tazuna in absolute shock.
