1. Mashimo & Piisuke
In the morning, Mashimo steps out of a tent he pitched on a rooftop. His pet parrot, Piisuke, perches on his hand. Mashimo remarks that he spends $65 on Piisuke’s food, while slashing his own monthly food budget to a mere $15. Craving sushi, he stares at a photo of Sakamoto, convinced that the only way to solve his financial woes is to kill him and claim the $7 million bounty.
2. Hunting Sakamoto
At the convenience store, Shin suggests Sakamoto join a paintball tournament to win the $7,000 grand prize, which they could use to repair the shop after recent assassin attacks. Shortly after, Mashimo walks in with Piisuke on his shoulder. Holding up a photo of the slim Sakamoto, he looks at the now-overweight Sakamoto and asks, “Where is Sakamoto?”
Sakamoto claims he is just a part-time worker and adds that there are many stores named “Sakamoto” across Japan. Mashimo grows suddenly frustrated, lamenting that his failure to kill his target means he won’t get to eat sushi. Reading his mind, Shin thinks the man is entirely fixated on trivial, ridiculous things.
Mashimo’s frustration peaks when he realizes he’ll have to visit every Sakamoto store, yet lacks the money for a single train ticket. He bursts into tears, admitting he can’t even afford breakfast. Wearing a pitiful expression, he stares at Shaotang and Shin, intentionally letting his stomach rumble loudly in a bid for sympathy.
His tactic works. Shaotang and Shin can’t bear watching him cry outside the store while staring at them behind the register. Eventually, Sakamoto, Shaotang, and Shin hand him a meat bun. Smiling and expressing his gratitude, Mashimo leaves.
3. The Paintball Tournament
The next day, Sakamoto and Shin are surprised to find Mashimo at the paintball tournament venue. Mashimo is whining and crying to the organizers, begging to be allowed to participate. However, the committee strictly requires teams of at least two and up to five members.
When a drunk Shaotang greets Piisuke from the spectator stands, Mashimo immediately turns around. Spotting them, he sprints over to Team Sakamoto, drops to his knees at Shin’s feet, and begs to join. Consequently, Mashimo officially becomes part of the team. Sakamoto and Shin feel a pang of dismay, assuming Mashimo will just be a burden.
The announcer declares that the Ikoraizaka Mall is hosting the paintball tournament. The entire shopping center will serve as the battlefield, and anyone hit by a shot is instantly eliminated. Aside from competing for the prize, the event also aims to clean the shopping center of the scattered paintballs.
4. Shaotang Leaks Sakamoto’s Identity
As the tournament begins, Mashimo takes aim from the center, standing right behind Sakamoto and Shin with his rifle barrel positioned between their shoulders. With incredible precision, he simultaneously shoots four hiding opponents, propelling Team Sakamoto into the lead. Shin quickly follows up by accurately sniping two more rivals.
Suddenly, two opponents try to ambush Sakamoto from behind. In a stunning display, Sakamoto disarms them both, takes their guns, and immediately shoots them with paintballs, eliminating the duo. Twirling the gun on his finger, Sakamoto vows to win the tournament to install bulletproof glass in his store and expand their instant noodle selection.
Mashimo tears up with emotion. Internally, he feels overjoyed to finally have reliable teammates. Meanwhile, reading Mashimo’s mind, Shin can only shake his head in disbelief—it is ridiculous to him that Mashimo considers them comrades so quickly.
Up in the stands, a drunk Shaotang holding a bottle of alcohol screams, praising Sakamoto as a legendary hitman. Hearing this, Mashimo freezes. He stares at the bounty photo of his target and remains convinced that his overweight teammate couldn’t possibly be the man he’s hunting.
However, Shaotang approaches him and insists that the man in the photo is indeed Sakamoto—his body has just changed. She tells Mashimo to look at Sakamoto’s hairstyle and glasses, which remain exactly the same, whether slim or overweight.
5. Mashimo Makes His Move
Mashimo immediately raises his rifle and takes aim at Sakamoto. Instantly, Sakamoto and Shin point their guns right back at him. The three of them hold each other at gunpoint, creating a dramatic standoff that leads the audience to believe their team is falling apart.
Suddenly, the Barbershop team, positioned on a structure above, opens fire on them. Sakamoto, Shin, and Mashimo quickly scatter to dodge the assault. In no time, Sakamoto and Shin return fire and eliminate the Barbershop team.
Amidst the chaos, Mashimo whistles. Piisuke quickly swoops in and drops a real sniper rifle into his hands. Without hesitation, Mashimo fires at Sakamoto. Showing extraordinary reflexes, Sakamoto deflects the live bullet with his bare hand, though he sustains a slight graze.
Shin and Sakamoto are impressed by Mashimo’s stance and his pinpoint accuracy from a considerable distance. Just as Shin is about to chase down the fleeing Mashimo, Sakamoto stops him—dozens of participants have surrounded them, their guns trained on the pair.
Meanwhile, Mashimo is running away with the loyal Piisuke flying beside him. As if understanding his bird’s chirps, Mashimo denies that he is crying, though the tears and snot streaming down his face tell a different story. In a stubborn tone, Mashimo insists he isn’t sad because Sakamoto is still his enemy. He convinces himself that killing Sakamoto is the only way to boost his reputation in the freelance hitman underworld.
6. Mashimo the Sniper
Sakamoto tells Shin to always stay vigilant when dealing with a sniper, even if the situation appears safe. He emphasizes that the first priority is to locate the enemy without exposing their own position.
While observing the surroundings from behind a building, Sakamoto is caught off guard. A bullet fired by Mashimo strikes a mirror, ricochets, and slices his shoulder. Shin still hasn’t pinpointed Mashimo’s location and is baffled as to how their position was discovered first.
From the rooftop, Mashimo listens to their conversation via the team radio, which is connected to the earpieces and microphones they are wearing. Mashimo commends Sakamoto and Shin for dodging his shot.
Sakamoto then explains to Shin that Mashimo’s bullets spin unnaturally, deducing that they are specifically designed to ricochet. Mashimo acknowledges Sakamoto’s brilliance in figuring out how the ammunition works. He explains that they are “triple-ricochet bullets,” engineered to make their trajectory unpredictable.
Shin remarks that Mashimo has already accepted them as friends, yet is still eager to kill them. Mashimo fires back, telling Shin not to be naive—they are still hitmen, even if they have become friends.
Brimming with confidence, Mashimo watches them through his scope. To him, every shot has only two outcomes: a hit or a miss. Without hesitation, he unleashes a barrage of bullets, forcing Shin and Sakamoto to sprint and struggle desperately to evade the fire.
7. Mashimo’s Past
Mashimo recalls his past, remembering himself as a teenager who was incompetent in almost everything, from sports to academics, constantly mocked by his peers.
However, after accidentally joining a practice session at a shooting range, he discovered his true calling—he was exceptionally skilled with firearms and possessed incredible accuracy. Even on his first try, his abilities were phenomenal. This brought Mashimo immense joy, as he had finally found his one and only talent.
With Piisuke on his shoulder, Mashimo was hired as a hitman and introduced himself as a new member at an agency. Beaming with pride, he explained that he focused entirely on honing his marksmanship at the academy and was confident no one could beat him at it.
However, Wawan, a fellow agency member, belittled him. Wawan stated that they didn’t need someone who only excelled in one area and ordered the rookie not to be picky about assignments. The harsh words left Mashimo feeling awkward.
During a mission with his mafia group, Mashimo found himself caught in a fierce brawl. Amidst the fight, he looked completely lost, prompting his teammate Hamdan to scold him for being inept with a knife. Mashimo was also frequently clumsy; in critical moments, he would panic and trip while running after his squad. His repeated mistakes led his comrades to view him as a liability.
Ultimately, his boss, Sahrul, fired him, deeming him unfit to be a hitman and declaring his marksmanship useless for their line of work.
With Piisuke on his shoulder, the recently fired Mashimo felt starved and defeated. As he stared at his phone screen, his eyes locked onto Sakamoto’s bounty poster advertising a reward of $7 million. In his despair, Mashimo vowed to prove his worth by killing Sakamoto, seeking to be recognized as a master sniper in the underworld.
8. Sakamoto Defeats Mashimo
Positioned on the rooftop, Mashimo continuously rants about his desire to prove his greatness to everyone who underestimated him, all while raining bullets down on Shin and Sakamoto.
Shin scolds Mashimo for being too loud and tells him to stop talking to himself while the microphone is still on. He shouts back, telling Mashimo not to care about what others say—what truly matters is that he believes in his own greatness.
Mashimo’s ears ring from Shin’s sudden, booming voice, and he quickly pulls out his earpiece. Meanwhile, using his esper abilities, Shin senses Mashimo’s startled reaction from afar and pinpoints his exact location.
As Mashimo tries to take aim at Sakamoto, he looks through his scope and sees Sakamoto winding up to throw something. In a flash, Sakamoto hurls a piece of gravel with immense force. The stone rockets through the air at high speed, shattering Mashimo’s sniper rifle and knocking him off his feet.
Mashimo gets goosebumps realizing just how powerful Sakamoto truly is. He finally accepts that defeating him is completely impossible.
9. Sakamoto Praises Mashimo
Team Sakamoto successfully wins the paintball tournament championship and the $7,000 grand prize.
At dusk, Mashimo cries in front of Shaotang, Shin, and Sakamoto. He confesses that he has failed as a sniper and considers himself weak. Sakamoto then reassures him that out of all the opponents he has ever faced, Mashimo is the greatest sniper he has encountered.
Hearing this, Mashimo blushes, deeply moved that someone finally acknowledges his talent. However, despite his shy expression, he insists he won’t be easily swayed by mere compliments.
Mashimo looks excited when he sees Shin preparing to hand him his share of the prize money. But he is shocked when he only receives five dollars. Meanwhile, Shin, Sakamoto, and Shaotang begin walking away.
Shin explains that Mashimo’s ricocheting bullets caused extensive property damage across town, so the prize money had to be used for compensation. Though surprised, Mashimo eventually accepts the reality that five dollars is exactly what he deserves.
10. Sakamoto & Aoi’s Love Story
Back at the convenience store, Aoi admires the paintball tournament trophy, though she laments that the prize money is already gone. Sakamoto apologizes, but Aoi doesn’t mind, emphasizing that Sakamoto’s safety is what matters most—especially now that they have bulletproof glass installed in the store.
Shin wonders how Sakamoto and Aoi first met, unable to imagine how Sakamoto ever made a move.
In a flashback, Sakamoto is shown shopping at a minimarket. He is instantly captivated when the cashier, Aoi, gives him a sweet smile. His heart pounds so intensely that he acts awkwardly while trying to pay his bill. Aoi notices blood on Sakamoto’s shirt and quickly runs off. When Sakamoto steps out of the minimarket, Aoi approaches him and hands him a bandage. In that moment, Sakamoto sees Aoi glowing with her sweet face. His heart feels like it’s going to explode, and his face turns bright red.
Shin, witnessing this romance unfold through his telepathy, gets goosebumps at how beautiful Aoi’s version of their love story is. Suddenly, he detects a murderous intent from Sakamoto, as if he wants to drive a knife through Shin’s neck. However, it’s merely a thought in Sakamoto’s mind and doesn’t actually happen.
Sakamoto, who was sitting at the register moments prior, is suddenly standing right next to Shin, firmly warning him to stop reading Aoi’s mind. A terrified Shin immediately nods in compliance.
