I’ve put together 9 key points after watching Ninja Kamui Episode 3.
1. The Ninja Squad Assassinates a Politician
A prominent conservative politician in Europe firmly opposes the entry of foreign corporations into his country. In response, Lil leads a ninja squad to raid his estate. The assassins slaughter every bodyguard on the premises.
A few surviving guards manage to secure the politician and escape in a car. However, the ninjas ambush them on the road, causing a violent crash. Lil then blows up the vehicle, incinerating the politician and his detail.
2. Master Yamaji Meets with Lil
Master Yamaji meets with Lil. He informs her that rogue ninjas who have betrayed the organization must be eradicated to prevent their secrets from falling into the hands of outsiders. Lil brings up Higan, an elite ninja who has mastered various combat techniques and is notoriously ruthless toward his enemies. Yamaji suspects Higan has mastered a special jutsu passed down by their ancestors, allowing him to return from the dead. Consequently, Yamaji intends to prepare a countermeasure to uncover Higan’s secret jutsu and destroy him once and for all.
3. Shinigami Zai Fights His Swordmaster
Zai, a ninja bearing the title of Shinigami, has just executed two rogue ninjas with his blade. His former swordmaster approaches him, reminding Zai of his teachings: swinging a sword without respect is nothing more than an act of sheer violence. The master asks how many old comrades Zai has butchered. Declaring that the organization has become rotten to the core, he accuses Zai of hunting down rogues solely out of fear of their masters.
The master then mocks Zai’s failure to kill Higan, stating that the organization can never defeat exiles who still uphold the pure ninja ideology. He firmly believes these rogue ninjas will rise up against the organization. Unleashing his ultimate sword strike, the master watches from a distance as his former pupil emerges completely unscathed. Confused, the master wonders where Zai’s sword is—only to realize the blade is already buried deep in his own chest. He collapses, dead.
4. The FBI Office
At the FBI field office, Mike reports the ninja attack at the restaurant. However, the Bureau closes the case, officially writing off the chaos as a gang war over territory. The FBI also arrests Ujang, alleging he conspired with the Chinese mafia to launder money through his diner.
Eddie later reprimands Mike, ordering him to drop the ninja investigation and advising him to enjoy his upcoming retirement by going fishing. Mike sarcastically asks if his fishing gear is made by Auza. Eddie simply walks away, handing Mike a forced leave of absence letter.
5. Mike and Higan’s Alliance Against Auza
Mike meets with Higan and explains that he has paid for all the damages to the restaurant. He also plans to help Ujang fight the false charges. Mike informs Higan that the ninjas who attacked them are directly tied to Auza; this is proven by their sickles, which are forged from a proprietary metal patented by the corporation. Mike adds that Auza is incredibly dangerous, wielding enough power to silence the FBI. He was even forced into administrative leave just for digging into them.
Higan reveals his sole objective: to annihilate every ninja involved in his family’s murder. Mike’s goal, meanwhile, is to protect civilians from criminals, though he openly admits he will arrest Higan when the time comes. Ultimately, the two agree to form a temporary alliance. They share a drink and toast to their pact. Mike never imagined he would team up with someone like Higan, but he wants to avenge his near-death experience at the hands of the Auza ninjas and clear Ujang’s name.
6. Investigating the Auza Corporation
Next, Mike and Higan meet with Emma, who is believed to be the best person to decode their leads on Auza. Emma is annoyed when Mike calls her car a junker, but she is impressed by Higan’s knowledge of her classic vehicle’s specs and features. She tells them to get in and reveals that her car doubles as a highly advanced mobile computer system. This setup perfectly complements Emma’s talent for gathering global intel via the internet.
Emma briefs them on her investigation. She describes Auza as a multinational conglomerate involved in military weaponry, telecommunications, entertainment, clean energy, and tech across virtually every industry. Auza is the largest stakeholder in the global market, with its products replacing various software and hardware daily. Their technology is now omnipresent worldwide.
However, Auza’s unprecedented growth has sparked dark rumors. Competitors, journalists, and anyone who threatens their progress frequently turn up dead under mysterious circumstances. For instance, the top European conservative politician who barred Auza from his country was recently assassinated; his successor immediately greenlit the corporation, citing technological advancement. Emma theorizes that the ninjas are acting as Auza’s dark enforcers, paving the way for their corporate expansion.
7. Master Yamaji Reprimands Joseph
Joseph, the founder of Auza, watches with satisfaction as his team successfully powers up a reactor generating 2.2 million kilowatts per second. Afterward, Master Yamaji invites Joseph for a meeting. Yamaji reprimands Joseph for deploying Auza ninjas and a squad of soldiers to attack Mike and Higan at the restaurant without his authorization.
Joseph argues that his only goal was to gather combat data to refine Auza’s new weapons, viewing a rogue ninja as the perfect test subject. Although the ninja organization benefits financially from Auza’s weapon sales as a business partner, Yamaji sternly warns Joseph never to repeat this mistake.
8. The Red Ninja Attacks Emma’s Car
As Emma pulls up a visual of the enemy headquarters in Auza City, Higan’s instincts flare. He moves in a flash, saving Mike from a sudden sword thrust. A Red Ninja is repeatedly stabbing a blade straight through the roof of Emma’s car. Relying on his senses to track the enemy’s position, Higan thrusts his own sword upward, forcing the Red Ninja to leap off the roof. Seconds later, a truck rams violently into Emma’s car, knocking both Mike and Emma unconscious. Higan, however, emerges from the wreckage completely uninjured.
9. Higan vs. The Red Ninja
Higan observes his opponent: the Red Ninja wields a steel sword in his right hand and five steel claws on his left. The assassin fires a projectile aimed at the unconscious Mike, but Higan darts in to deflect it. Drawing both of his swords, Higan faces off against the assassin. The ensuing battle is fierce and evenly matched. Both combatants parry strikes with blinding agility, neither able to land a clean hit.
After landing a heavy kick that sends Higan flying, the Red Ninja activates his backpack, deploying six mechanical cables. The cables act like whips, each tipped with a razor-sharp blade. One of the blades slices deep into Higan’s back. In response, Higan activates his jutsu, sprouting six ethereal arms from his back. Using these extra appendages to grab the entangled cables, he violently yanks them, slamming the Red Ninja into the ground.
Higan slices through two rockets fired by the Red Ninja and leaps into the air to evade the explosion. Airborne, Higan is targeted by a hail of bullets fired straight from the Red Ninja’s mouth. With acrobatic precision, he dodges the barrage. He hurls his sword downward, impaling the Red Ninja and pinning him down. Descending rapidly from the building’s height, Higan delivers a final, brutal strike, driving his blade straight through the assassin’s mouth.
Higan rips a body camera off the Red Ninja before tossing the corpse off the edge of the roof. Staring into the lens, Higan records himself making a throat-slitting gesture. He transmits this deadly promise directly to Lil, who has been watching the fight via live feed.
From a distance, Higan confirms that Mike and Emma are safe; police and paramedics have arrived at the crash site and are treating them. Just then, Higan receives a phone call from a mysterious caller.
