During his time as a student at the Konoha Academy, Boruto was a notorious troublemaker. On his very first day, he made his mark by wrecking the Hokage Rock, earning himself a two-week suspension.
Though labeled a delinquent, his antics were mostly typical childhood mischief—nowhere near as severe as Naruto stealing the forbidden scroll. However, there were a few chilling moments where Boruto’s recklessness crossed the line, nearly costing innocent people their lives.
Here are three times Boruto nearly got someone killed:
1. Boruto Nearly Kills Metal Lee
As their instructor, Shino was running a shuriken-throwing drill. Knowing his students were still novices, he strictly warned them to handle the blades with care to avoid injuring themselves or their classmates.
The students eagerly took their turns. Some missed the mark entirely, while others hit dead center. Metal Lee was among the flawless few. Yet, the moment he noticed Shikadai and Inojin watching him, Metal’s crippling stage fright flared up, and his next throw veered wildly off course.
As Metal walked over to retrieve his stray shuriken, Boruto suddenly burst onto the scene, sprinting and hurling a massive fuma shuriken right at the target Metal was approaching. Rather than dodging, Metal misjudged the threat, brushing off Boruto’s erratic throw. Unfortunately, feeling the eyes of his classmates on him, Metal’s anxiety spiked again, shattering his focus.
He attempted a Konoha Whirlwind kick to deflect the spinning blade, but his execution faltered. Instead of deflecting it, his leg became ensnared in the center ring of the giant shuriken. The momentum carried him away, slamming him violently into the wooden target.
The fuma shuriken is a heavy, lethal weapon strictly forbidden for Academy students. Boruto’s reckless stunt could have easily been fatal, but by sheer luck, Metal escaped without severe injuries.
2. Boruto Nearly Drops Cho-Cho
The incident sparked from an escalating gender war at the Academy: Boruto and the boys clashing with Sarada and the girls. The girls were completely fed up with the boys’ constant disruptions, which had branded their entire class as troublemakers.
After breaking up a heated argument between Boruto and Sarada in the cafeteria, Shino realized that a competitive, unyielding spirit was crucial for a shinobi’s growth. To settle the rivalry, he devised a solution.
Shino turned the entire school building into a battleground, dividing the class into Team Boys and Team Girls. It was a capture-the-flag match; the objective was to retrieve a flag planted on the school roof. The winning team would earn the right to give absolute orders to the losers.
The two factions clashed fiercely, exchanging ninjutsu across the campus. Eventually, the girls closed in on victory, with Cho-Cho reaching the flag. Desperate to stop her, Boruto hastily performed a Summoning Jutsu.
A violent, snake-like creature materialized and immediately lashed out at Cho-Cho, knocking her off the roof. In a terrifying drop, Cho-Cho plummeted toward the ground. Fortunately, Boruto lunged and grabbed her hand at the last possible second, pulling her back from a fatal fall.
Ultimately, the girls won the match. While everyone was distracted watching Konohamaru obliterate the rogue summon with a Rasengan, Sumire quietly slipped away, secured the flag, and cemented her team’s victory.
3. Boruto Nearly Kills a Construction Worker
The collateral damage from the boy-versus-girl match was catastrophic, leaving the Academy building severely damaged and partially collapsed. As a result, the students were forced to hold classes outdoors while construction crews worked to rebuild the facility.
Amidst the ruins, a new transfer student from the Hidden Sound Village arrived: Mitsuki. Shino threw a welcome party to integrate him into the class, and the mood was bright. The students happily enjoyed the delicious food and marveled at the adorable, self-moving plush dolls Shino had provided.
The festive atmosphere abruptly shattered when Namida tried to hug one of the moving dolls. Startling the swarm of bugs hidden inside the plush, she triggered a terrifying chain reaction. Panicked, Namida screamed hysterically, and the agitated insects swarmed the area, turning the party into pure chaos.
Stepping in, Mitsuki executed a Wind Style: Breakthrough jutsu, successfully blowing the aggressive swarm away. Unfortunately, the violent gale inadvertently struck the nearby construction workers repairing the school, forcing an embarrassed Shino to apologize profusely. Shaken and claiming to feel unwell, Shino canceled the rest of the day’s lessons, leaving the students feeling deeply guilty for ruining the party.
Shortly after, a bizarre incident occurred: one of the construction workers suddenly went berserk. He began mindlessly destroying the scaffolding, hurling heavy wooden planks in every direction. Realizing the man was possessed by the dark “Ghost” chakra anomaly, Sarada immediately moved to distract him. Shikadai then bound him with his Shadow Paralysis Jutsu, while Iwabe struck the worker over the head with his staff to knock him out.
Despite the blow, the dark aura stubbornly clung to the man’s body. Acting quickly, Boruto lunged at the possessed worker, grappling him into a reversed chokehold—locking his legs tightly around the man’s neck while hanging upside down.
However, struggling near the edge of the unrailed scaffolding, they both lost their balance and plummeted off the high structure. Locked in the grapple, Boruto was inadvertently driving the worker headfirst toward the concrete ground below. It looked like a lethal piledriver in the making.
Disaster was averted only when Mitsuki reacted with a perfectly timed gust of wind jutsu, cushioning their fall just before impact. Thanks to Mitsuki’s quick thinking, the worker was spared a cracked skull, and his life was saved.
